Besides for more adventure lovers, travelers can add to peak climb adventure as well, Bokta (Boktoh) peak is 6114 meters located north of Ramche popular trekking peak in the Kanchenjunga region of Nepal. Only 2 to 3 days’ time needs to be added to the normal trekking duration to climb Bokta Peak. Instead of Sinelapche Bhanjyang Pass 4646 meters, Sinion-La Pass 4440m and Selele-La Pass 4480 meters, there is another Pass called Lapsang Bhanjyang Pass (5161 meters) (Lapsang La Pass). It's a much more challenging one requiring rope, and an ice–axe with basic technical experience.
The journey continues to lead to Gunsa (3595 meters) biggest settlement of the upper Kanchenjunga region with traditional Buddhist culture, their respectful Hospitality always shining in their face. Leaving behind Simbu Khola and now following the Ghunsa Khola (which comes from Kanchenjunga Glacier) leads us to another beautiful village Kambachen. Also known as Khangpachen elevation of 4050 meters. A side trip to one of the most beautiful mountains, Janu Himal base camp is recommended. You will experience close-up views of Mount Jannu and Kumbhakarna Glacier.
Continue following the Ghunsa Khola to Lhonak 4780 meters a wide windy valley the last settlements with few small tea shops. Another 3 to 4 hours of good walking takes us to Kanchenjunga north base camp well-known as Pangpema (5143 meters). It is the last stop of the Kanchenjunga base camp trek. Generally, they provide basic amenities such as a bed, blanket, and meals. However, it's important to note that the availability and quality of services will vary from tea house to tea house, especially in more remote areas. Some tea houses have shared bathrooms and limited electricity, while there are others that offer private rooms and hot showers.
It's advisable to be prepared for basic accommodations and carry essential items such as a sleeping bag and headlamp. Unlike other Trekking destinations like the Everest region trek and Annapurna region trek, The Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is a challenging and remote trek. So limited Tea Houses are available as compared to other destinations for trekking in Nepal.
Similarly, Trekking to the world's third highest peak Mt, Kanchenjunga can be done as a tea house, Lodge treks along the Mt. Kanchenjunga Circuit with a minimum group size of 8 -10 people. Accommodations are not high standard available like the Everest Base Camp Trek route but basic and limited accommodations are available along the Kanchenjunga Trekking route. While trekking to the Kanchenjunga region of Nepal tea houses and lodges are open only during the trekking season.
If you are trekking in the early season (early September) or in the late season (end of December), make sure the tea houses and lodges are still open or not. When snowfall starts in the mountain region, the Tea House Lodges are normally closed in the region. However, if you travel with a reputed travel company and experienced team, it will be easy. They are familiar with locals and can ask to open the tea house if it is closed.
