Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek leads you to a wonderful view Point to Poon Hill 3210 meters with a great opportunity to visit a typical Ghandruk village with Super views of the Himalayan Panorama.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the best short treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal that provides a wonderful panorama of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Range. The viewpoint of Poon Hill (3210 meters) is probably one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the country. The view of the first rays of sun in the morning, touching the snow-capped mountains from Poon Hill, is the highlight of the trek.
The major summits viewed from Poon Hill are; Hiunchuli (6434 meters), Annapurna South (7219 meters), Annapurna Fang (7647 meters), Nilgiri South (6839 meters), Tukuche Peak (6920 meters), Dhampus Peak (6012 meters), Annapurna I (8091 meters) and Dhaulagiri (8167 meters). Apart from the beauty of the towering landscapes of nature, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek also excels in displaying the diverse flora of the region as well. The blooming of rhododendrons flowers especially in the month of March and April along with many other flowers throughout the jungles adds an extra charm to the trek.
Varying landscapes, vegetation, and culture are also the highlights of the trip. The trek passes through the settlements including various indigenous groups of Nepal like the Brahmin, Magar, and Gurung. The Gurung are famous for their exploits in warfare and are renowned as Gurkhas and are one of the two ethnic groups from Nepal famous in the world. ‘The sherpas’ are the other famous ethnic group from the country.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is also the most flexible trek available in the country. The trek can be made a part of two other popular treks (Annapurna Circuit Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek) or can be enjoyed as a short trek in itself. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a perfect trek for someone with a short vacation, who wants a short and easy trek but not missing the panoramic views of the world’s highest mountains. Perfection. 100% recommend this local Nepali company
I would 100% recommend Visit Himalaya Treks to anyone wanting to organize a trek in Nepal. It’s a local Nepali trekking company with a very personal touch and they have brilliant local knowledge of the areas they work in.
We only had a short time in Pokhara so organised to do the Poon Hill trek through them (4days). They were incredibly quick to respond to all our enquiries and gave us lots of helpful advice when we were planning our trip. Himal in the head office was friendly and gave us lots of useful information about what we would need to bring and how to get around in Nepal.
Our mountain guide Tek and porter Locksumon were brilliant from day one. Tek was professional and incredibly knowledgeable about the Himalayas and Nepali culture. He puts a lot of thought into organising trips for clients and booked us into some of the best teahouses on the trek with some incredible views of the Annapurna region. He even organised for a special birthday surprise for us at Ghorepani. We have come away from our trip with a new friend and feel that anyone would be incredibly lucky to have him as their guide.
Thank you for everything, we are already excited for our next trip to Nepal and will definitely use Visit Himalaya Treks again!! April – 2019.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking
We just decided to go for trekking ( Poon Hill trekking) in Nepal 2 weeks before going there. So we didn’t really know much information, but Himal provided us details and choices, so that was very helpful. Thanks to Visit Himalayas treks, we enjoyed our first trek in Nepal. We did not need much preparation as they advised an easy but very nice trek for us. They took care of us from airport to mountains, and fine tuned the path as well to our capabilities. During our visit we have a very good guides. Thx to Balkumar and Ramesh 😀 they have us all the details and took care of us, so we felt safe and enjoyable. Even it was a quite short trip, but we have gotten best experiences and luck. I would not hesitate to ask them for services again next time. September -2018
Kathmandu & Pokhara 5 days
I was in kathmandu and wanted to see the himalayas and some 7000m snow covered tops. But I only had a short time and no equpment. So I asked some offices along the street but never felt real comitment or conviction untill I met Himal and his crew. Instantly i was given all options, suggestions and budget alternatives.I had booked a trip 15 min later.
Because they felt extremely qualified, experienced and helpfull. Maintained great comunication and help during all Times of the trip. He even lended me an overqualified guide (Isu) to do my average 4 days trip. Getting to know Isu and talking about expeditions, I was amazed at all the experience. I would recomend this them at and adventure in nepal. Wether it is small excursions or demanding expeditions.
They are your best option!
All equipment, quality, use and safety is taken into great account. The comunication and dedication is Super! I concidder them friends and I would absolutely visit for another trip to Nepal. April – 2018.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, Pokhara Tour, Bandipur Tour, Chitwan National Park tour
April 2025.
What an amazing holiday! 19 days discovering a variety of exciting places in Nepal, under the extremely capable, thoughtful & excellent organization of Himal from "Visit Himalaya Treks". He was able to tailor an individual tour for us. The warm welcome on arrival at the airport began a special trip, which included traveling to the beautiful village of Bandipur, a 5-day Poon Hill trek, Pokhara & Lake Fewa, Chitwan NP, Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, & Kathmandu.
The Poon Hill trek was timed to view the stunning, gigantic, flowering rhododendron trees, and didn't disappoint. Beautiful vistas of the trees, many moss-covered & rainforests, the high snow-capped peaks, blue sky, small waterfalls, and even a little snow on our path. We passed and stayed in small villages and when the going uphill proved tough, our guide Rajan & porter Ishwar helped and encouraged me. Rajan is to be commended on his attention to detail. He taught us so much about everyday life in Nepal, the religions, the history, culture, customs, and the mountains. Both Raj and Ishwar were very respectful, courteous, and warm people, who accommodated our wishes. (we were 1 middle-aged Aussie couple only on this tour).
We enjoyed some good laughs together. In Chitwan NP, they organized an excellent local guide Bishnu, who was a wealth of knowledge about the area, especially the fauna /birdlife. The accommodation at the Hotel Parkland in Sauraha was peaceful and had a lovely garden. We were happy with the other hotels and guesthouses on the rest of the tour too. (Some were more basic on the trek-to be expected!) If we hadn't had Rajan's local knowledge & Nepali language, we would've missed the outstanding festival chariot, procession & offerings ceremony of the Seto Machhendranach in Kathmandu.
We can thoroughly recommend doing a tour or trek with "Visit Himalaya Treks"-do try and ensure you're fit before you come! And if you keep an open, enquiring mind & sense of humor and show respect for a country very different from your own, you will benefit most from the trip.
We always try to be flexible to design the trip itinerary for our client’s needs. However, if you are not convinced as our suggested itinerary then off-course you are always welcome to customize or change the trip itinerary.
Holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation, and food.
An average physical fitness should be maintained prior to booking a trek. Any sort of illness or recent medical problems should be mentioned while booking a trip. Most of our itineraries are prepared to give you maximum time to acclimatize and pace-setting on the treks would be done according to your convenience. If you are having regular medication then tell us before the trip started which would be better for us to give you the physical feedback.
Our main concern is your safety. We never compromised on your safety during the Trekking and all our guides are properly trained and well equipped to take care of our client's safety even in remote areas as well.
There would be always back support in case of an emergency situation like severe high-altitude sickness or accident (which is least expected), you will be sent to the nearest hospital, if possible, otherwise rescued by a helicopter and sent you to the hospital as soon as possible. Since you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred for the use of such emergency services, please make sure that your travel insurance covers both- medical and emergency evacuation costs.
It is not a problem at all because in a mountain most of the tea houses/lodges serve vegetarian food as well and our guide will take care at the time of cooking and on a camping trek, our cook and staffs will care all about the food section.
Most of the lodges in the mountains are basic like a guest house or tea house style. In a few major settlements Lodges are upgraded, where are the possibilities we provide you with the best accommodation! Also, it depends upon the service packages.
Lately, most of the teahouses have electricity supply even with solar panels. So, charging your gadgets is not a problem at all. But charging your battery you should have to pay an additional fee (US$ 1 to 3 approx. per hour.), in order to get your gadgets to be charged.
Now a day’s most of the major village has a cell phone network connection. However, in a remote area where cell phone does not work, and even if there is not any other communication access then we send satellite phone along with our guide so you can easily be in touch with your family.
Yes, either you can store at the same hotel as you stayed or we can store your goods with us safely in our office free of cost.
The luggage must not exceed up to 20 kilograms. A trekking helper (porter) carries the baggage of fewer than 20 kilograms. This bag can be received at the end of each day’s trek and you should carry the rest of the weight as a day bag with all your money and valuables inside it.
This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 25 to USD 900 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you to spend a minimum of 10% of your total trip cost for tipping the entire local staff.
