Langtang Region trek is for some unknown reasons one of the most underrated trekking areas of Nepal despite being a wonderful scenic trek on an easy terrain. It is a popular trekking region behind only Annapurna Region and Everest Region. The region is famous for its warm hospitality, easy terrain, and fantastic views. It is comparatively smaller than Annapurna and Everest Region has fewer trekking trails. But yet, all of them are equally astounding treks.
Langtang Trekking is easy to reach and its trekking trails are not disturbed by any part of the roads (only for the Langtang Valley). However, the views, landscapes, flora, and fauna are almost second to none. The region extends right to the end of the valley that also separates Nepal from Tibet. Thus, there are plenty of views of the Tibetan mountains as well. One of the valleys of the Langtang Region has a very cultural theme to it and offers an excellent opportunity to indulge in the local culture and religion.
The Tamang villages of Gatlang, Tatopani, Thuman, and Timure have a very ancient and medieval look to them and also offer excellent views of the Ganesh Himal Range. The main valley of Langtang goes right to the foot of the mountains located on the border between Tibet and Nepal. Tsergo Ri, at almost of the end of the valley provides a 360-degree view of these amazing snowy pinnacles.
The vista includes Langtang Lirung (7227 meters), Dorje Lakpa (6966 meters), Langshisha Ri (6427 meters), Yala Peak ( 5520 meters), Gangchempo (6378 meters), and last but not least, Shishapangma (8027 meters). The holy and sacred lakes of Gosaikunda are also in Langtang Region.
Apart from easy treks, Langtang Region also has some interesting and adventurous treks and climbs. Yala Peak (5520 meters) and Naya Kanga (5844 meters) are two popular and exciting trekking peaks in this region. The treks through Ganja La Pass (5122 meters) and Laurebinayak Pass (4609 meters) provide more challenging treks to more experienced trekkers.
Langtang Region has only a handful number of treks. Among these, Langtang Valley Trek and Tamang Heritage Trek are easy treks. Whereas, Langtang Ganja La Naya Kanga Peak is the most challenging trek in Langtang Region.
