TIMS Card (Trekking information Management system)

A Trekkers Information Management system (TIMS) card is a mandatory document that every trekker must obtain in Kathmandu before entering any trekking region in Nepal. It ensures the safety and security of the trekkers and the environment. The TIMS can only be issued by a registered trekking company that has a valid license from the government. An Individual cannot apply for this permit on their own. The trekking company will arrange the permit for you after you book your trek.

Khumbu Pasang Lahmu Rural Municipality Entry Permits

This is a new form of permit needed to carry while entering the entire Khumbu region, including Everest Base Camp Trek. the Khumbu region was declared as a Khumbu Pasang Lahmu Rural Municipality which is a local government.

Now trekkers need to pay the entrance permit to Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality upon their arrival at the Lukla airport if they are taking a flight to Lukla and if they are planning to trek from Jiri or Salleri you can obtain the permit in Monjo.

Please make sure there is no alternative office for Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality in Kathmandu. So, trekkers upon the payment of Nepalese currency Rs 2000 can obtain this permit either in Lukla or in Monjo

National Park Entry Permits;

If you are planning to do some activities or trekking in Nepal, and if you’re trekking or doing some activities over National Park then of course you need to get an entry permit for National Park.

A National Park entry permit must be obtained to enter protected areas. Park entry fees may be paid at Tourist Service Center, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, or at the entry points.

Special Trekking Permits

If you are planning to travel to restricted areas in Nepal then you should obtain a Special Trekking Permit issued by the Department of Immigration under the Home Ministry including Upper Mustang Trek. The government has opened the following previously restricted trekking areas for group trekkers. Trekking permits will not be issued to individual trekkers in those trekking areas. Entry fees must be paid to enter Heritage Sites, museums, etc. at the entry point. Positive discriminatory entry fees are applicable to most of the sightseeing spots, i.e. different fees to Nepali (visitors and students), SAARC, and Third-Country (other than SAARC) visitors.
