Kailash Mansarovar is considered the soul of the country, providing a sense of eternity and protection. In contrast, Lake Manasarovar, situated at an altitude of 14,950 feet (4,558 meters), is believed to be the highest freshwater lake in the world, lying below Mount Kailash. It is said that taking a ritual bath in its waters can grant a pilgrim access to Brahma's paradise, and drinking from the lake is thought to absolve the sins of a hundred lifetimes.

The Indus, Sutlej, Ganges, and Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra) rivers all originate from the area surrounding Mt. Kailash. Traveling for days across this remote plateau, you may encounter nomads herding their sheep or yaks. This journey can transform your perspective on life and allow you to become part of the deeply spiritual pilgrimage around Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Such experiences are overwhelming and can be truly life-changing.

The Mount Kailash Parikrama (Kora) is a primary focus for many pilgrimage travelers. Parikrama to the Kailash Parbat in western Tibet is among the most popular on the Tibetan plateau. This tour visits sacred sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. Hindus believe that Mount Kailash is the dwelling place of Lord Shiva.

The Mt. Kailash Parikrama, also referred to as a Kora or Circuit, is a pilgrimage around the holy mountain. It is performed in a clockwise direction by Buddhists and in a counterclockwise direction by adherents of Bon. This pilgrimage typically takes three days. Along the Mt. Kailash tour, visitors also have the opportunity to briefly visit the nearby sacred site of Manasarovar Lake. Both Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake in Tibet are renowned travel destinations.

2026-Year of the Horse, Special year of Kailash Parikrama.

2026 is the Year of the Horse. Completing a Circle around Mount Kailash (known as Kora) once during this year is considered karmically equivalent to completing twelve Koras, making it the most sacred year for this pilgrimage. The Year of the Horse occurs once every twelve years, attracting thousands of pilgrims who will undertake the Mt. Kailash yatra to pay their respects.
